Goa may still host GM tourney in 2020
Goa’s biggest chess tournament may take place at the end of the year, if everything goes as per plan.
The GCA has conducted the Goa Grandmaster Chess tournament, now rechristened as Parrikar Grandmaster, in October 2018 and June 2019. The third edition was scheduled for this month at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao.
The Sports Ministry and Ministry of External Affairs have not given permission to host any tournament. With the number of coronavirus positive cases rising, GCA is not taking anything for granted.
The first two editions saw around 1200 players take part from all over the world and GCA is expecting the number to go up in the third edition.
