· Goa to seek 6 months more for coastal plan
ð Few days ahead of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) deadline to finalise Goa’s coastal zone management plan (CZMP), the state government has decided to approach the NGT to seek six more months to complete the CZMP.
ð In September, the NGT granted Goa time till November 15 to finalise and submit the CZMP to Union minister of environment forest and climate change (MoEFCC). Since Goa is the only state that has failed to finalise its CZMP, the NGT had warned that action would be taken against the state’s government officers if the new deadline is not met.
ð Among the many changes to the CRZ notification 2011 sought are an amendment that will allow the state to be excluded from demarcating the high tide line (HTL) in khazan land and an one-time protection for all houses constructed prior to January 1, 2005, between 200m-500m from the HTL.
