compared to the year 1947, there is almost 45% reduction in crude death rate. On other parameters of health too we have more or less reached our goals. We were successful in eradicating Smallpox. Several infective diseases have become short and less painful. It has been shown that the change in the scenario is due to the better living conditions and availability of some resources like safe drinking water, general awareness etc. but not due to the change in human behavior.
