Soon, robotics in schools as education budget sees Rs 600 crore hike

Stating that the education sector is close to his heart as it shapes the future generation, chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced an allocation of over Rs 3,000 crore for it. The Rs 600 crore-plus enhancement in the sector’s budget is incidentally its highest in three years.

A pleasantly surprising allocation was of Rs 25 crore for a ‘CM-Coding and Robotics’ scheme, which Sawant said will help inculcate mathematical and logical aptitude among school students and make them aware of coding and robotics concepts at the school level itself.

The fee structure of technical institutes in Goa will also be revised to promote technical education among Goan youths, the chief minister said.

To increase employability of Goan youths in the shipbuilding industry, skill-based courses as per the current requirement of the industry will be introduced, such as CNC machine operations, 4G, 5G, 6G welding, fibreglass work, etc.
